PrintIt is operated by PrintIt, Egypt.
The short version.
- We collect what we need to run your account, print and deliver your orders, and
remember your app settings.
- There is no advertising, analytics or tracking software in the app.
- Your uploaded documents are deleted automatically once your order has been finished
for 30 days. This is a scheduled job, not a promise to get round to it.
- A print shop cannot see your files, your file names or anything about you until it
has accepted your order.
- You can delete your account yourself, from inside the app or by emailing us.
Here is how, and what happens to the data.
1. What we collect
All of it comes from you, or is produced by your own use of the app. We do not buy data
about you and we do not collect anything from you before you sign up.
- Your sign-in
-
Depending on how you choose to sign in: an email address and password, or a Google
sign-in. If you use Google, we hold the account identifier it gives us and the email
address on it — we never see your Google password.
- Your profile
-
Your name and your phone number, if they have been provided, the date your account was
created, and your app settings (light or dark theme, and whether you want order
notifications). Both the name and the phone number are optional as far as the database is
concerned; you may be asked for them at checkout so a delivery can actually reach you.
- Your saved addresses
-
For each address you save: the label you gave it ("Home", "Campus"), the street, the
flat and floor, the area and city, any delivery note or landmark you wrote, the
receiver's name and phone number (required; the receiver may be you or someone you
name), and the exact map
coordinates of the point you picked. Coordinates are required — we cannot quote or
deliver to an address without a real point on the map.
- The documents you upload
-
The PDF files you send to be printed, up to 50 MB each. They are stored in a private
bucket — there is no public link to them, and every single read is checked against
who is asking. We also store the file's location in that bucket and the number of pages,
which our server counts by opening the file. We do not read your documents for any other
purpose.
- Your orders
-
What you asked for (paper size, colour or black and white, single or double sided, number
of copies, binding and layout choices), the page and sheet count, the price, the payment
method and whether it has been paid, the delivery address and coordinates as they were at
the moment you ordered, and the time of every status change — submitted, accepted,
printing, out for delivery, delivered, cancelled.
- Payment records
-
For cash on delivery, the amount and whether it was collected. For card payments, the
amount, the status, the transaction reference from our payment processor, and the
confirmation message the processor sends back to us, which we keep so that a disputed
charge can be investigated. We never see or store your card number. The
card details are entered on the payment processor's own page, not in PrintIt.
- Ratings you leave
- A star rating from 1 to 5 for a completed order, and your written comment if you left one.
- Notifications
- The in-app messages we send you about your orders, and whether you have read them.
- Requests from outside our delivery area
-
If you ask us to serve somewhere we do not cover yet, we record the point you dropped on
the map and what you asked for, so we know where to expand.
- Photos of your packaged order
-
The print shop photographs your wrapped order before it goes out, as proof of what was
handed to the courier.
- A counter to stop abuse
-
How many orders your account has created in a short window, so that one account cannot
flood the system. It is a number, not a history.
2. What we do not collect
This is worth stating plainly, because most apps cannot say it:
- No analytics. There is no analytics, tracking or advertising software
in the PrintIt app. We do not know which screens you looked at.
- No crash reporting service. No third party receives a report when the
app misbehaves.
- No advertising identifiers, no ad networks, and we do not sell or rent
anything about you to anybody, for any purpose.
- No cookies on these pages. The four pages on this site set no
cookies, load no fonts from anywhere else, and run no scripts.
- No contacts, photos, or files other than the ones you pick. When you
choose a document, your phone hands us that one file.
Three things that do leave your phone, which you should know about
- Your location, if you let the app use it. The app can ask your phone
for your current position, purely to centre the map on you when you are choosing a
delivery point. You can refuse and pan the map yourself. The point the map is on is
sent to our server to check whether we deliver there; that check stores nothing. A
position is only kept if you save it as an address, attach it to an order, or ask us
to serve that area.
- Map images. The map is drawn with tiles from
openstreetmap.org. Loading them means your device contacts that service
directly, which, like any website you visit, sees your IP address. We do not send them
anything about you or your order.
- A password check, if you sign up with email. Before your account is
created, the app checks your new password against a list of leaked passwords at
haveibeenpwned.com. It sends only the first five characters of a scrambled
(SHA-1) form of the password, never the password itself; that service sees your IP
address.
3. Who else sees any of this
The print shop
This is the part we have designed most carefully, and the rules are enforced by the
database itself rather than by the shop's app — so they hold even if somebody tries to
go around the screen.
We choose which shop gets the work, and we do not tell you which shop handled your
order. Your star rating is recorded against the job, not against a shop you named.
Everyone else
- Our payment processor, for card payments only. You are handed to them
to enter your card, and they tell us whether it worked. They receive the amount and the
order reference.
- Our hosting provider. The database, the file storage and the servers
that run PrintIt are operated by our cloud hosting provider on our behalf. They hold the
data described above because that is where it physically lives. They do not use it.
- Us. A small number of PrintIt staff can look at an account or an order
when they are dealing with a support problem or an unpaid balance.
- Nobody else, apart from the map and password-check services described
above. We would disclose something if we were legally required to, and not otherwise.
4. How long we keep things
Your documents are deleted on a schedule
Once an order has been delivered, cancelled, or has failed to find a shop,
a clock starts. 30 days later, the files you uploaded for that order are
deleted from our storage by an automatic job that runs once a day. The order keeps its
receipt — the prices were worked out and saved at the time, so nothing needs to re-read
your document ever again — and we record the date the files were destroyed.
The 30 days is a setting rather than something buried in the code, so it can be shortened
without a new release. If it changes, this page changes with it.
The one reason a file is kept at all during those 30 days is so that a job can be
reprinted if something went wrong with it.
Everything else
- Your account, profile and addresses: until you delete your account.
- Orders you submitted: kept as business and accounting records. If you
delete your account, they stay but you are removed from them — see the deletion
page for exactly what that leaves behind.
- Drafts you never submitted: deleted, with their files, after 7 days
untouched.
- Packaging photos, notifications and rating comments: until you delete
your account, at which point they go.
- Payment records and the record of an account deletion: kept, with no
set expiry.
- Database backups: encrypted, and each one expires after 90 days.
5. Security
- Your documents live in a private store with no public link. Every attempt to read one
is checked against who is asking and what stage the order is at.
- Every table is protected by row-level rules in the database, so one customer's account
cannot reach another customer's rows even if the app were tampered with.
- Uploads are limited to PDF files of 50 MB or less.
- Staff accounts with access to the admin tools require a second factor to sign in.
No system is perfect. If you believe something about your account is wrong or exposed,
email hamza2008ismail@gmail.com and we will look at it.
6. Your choices and your rights
- See what we hold about you. Ask, and we will send it to you.
- Correct it. You can add and remove saved addresses in the app. For
anything else, including your name and phone number, ask us.
- Delete your account and your data. You can do this yourself.
The deletion page explains the steps, what is
removed, and what is kept.
- Withdraw location access at any time in your phone's settings. The app
keeps working; you pan the map yourself.
- Complain. Write to us first — we would rather fix it.
To do any of these, email hamza2008ismail@gmail.com. We aim to
reply within 30 days. We will check that a request genuinely comes from the
account holder before we act on it — otherwise anyone who knew your number could ask
for your data.
7. Children
PrintIt is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly create
accounts for them. If you believe a child has an account with us, email
hamza2008ismail@gmail.com and we will remove it.
8. Changes to this policy
If we change what we collect or who we share it with, we will update this page and change
the date at the top. If the change is significant, we will tell you in the app rather than
hoping you re-read this page.
